About the Loft
The Robert Watson Lofts was converted in 2007 by Rosebud Homes. At the same time, a soft loft addition was added to the building. Robert Watson Lofts is a former candy factory that was originally built in 1903. The Robert Watson Company was renowned for its scotch mints, English mints and Jordan almonds. There are 153 units that range in size from 550 sf to over 1,500 sf. Hard loft features include high wood or concrete ceilings, concrete floors, wood posts and beams, and exposed brick. Soft loft features include high concrete ceilings, concrete floors and balconies or terraces.
About Roncesvalles
Roncesvalles was originally settled by Colonel Walter O’Hara in 1850. O’Hara was wounded and captured by the French in the Roncesvalles Gorge in northern Spain; hence the name Roncesvalles. The development of the present-day neighbourhood was spurred on by the street-car, which came to this area in the early 1900s. Roncesvalles was a family-oriented neighbourhood right from the start.
