About the Loft

Brewery Lofts was converted in 1999 by Sobara Group. Erected in 1956 as a warehouse, 90 Sumach became the design centre for the beginning of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's television era. For decades the CBC's archives, studios, rehearsal spaces and workshops thrived here. The building is connected via an archway and courtyard to the site of the historic 120 year old Dominion Brewery. Brewery Lofts contains 110 suites ranging from 750 to 3,000 square feet. Some of the hard loft features in the building include 14 ft concrete ceilings, concrete columns, polished concrete floors, and huge floor to ceiling windows.

About Trefann Court

Trefann Court began as a working class neighbourhood in the mid 1800's. In 1966 Toronto city planners recommended that Trefann Court's deteriorated housing be demolished and the entire neighbourhood be rebuilt from scratch. The city's plans were vigorously opposed by Trefann Court residents, who crafted a plan that advocated restoring the existing housing stock wherever possible, and replacing dilapidated houses with new houses. This plan was adopted by city council in 1972.
