About the Loft -

About the Neighbourhood - The Village of Brockton was likely named after Captain James Brock, who held a large parcel of land in this area in the early 1800's. Irish immigrants were the first settlers of Brockton in the 1840s. They found employment at two nearby rope making factories. The majority of the houses were built between 1880 and 1920. Brockton was incorporated as a village in 1881 but was amalgamated with the City of Toronto three years later.
